Horticultural Design Specialist
We are seeking a talented, design-oriented Horticultural Design Specialist to join our growing ecological landscape team. This position is ideal for someone with strong horticultural knowledge, creative and refined design ability, excellent client communication skills, and a passion for native and ecologically focused gardens.
The Horticultural Design Specialist will play a key role in creating and overseeing exceptional garden spaces and seasonal container displays while helping maintain the highest standards of care for our residential landscape clients.
Position Responsibilities
Design & Client Consultation
- Design and install high-quality seasonal container floral displays
- Purchase material for the installations from various growers and retailers
- Consult with clients on high-end garden design projects with a strong focus on native plants, ecological landscaping, biodiversity, and sustainable horticultural practices
- Meet with prospective and existing clients to assess project goals, site conditions, and planting opportunities
- Develop creative garden concepts and planting plans tailored to each property and client vision
- Create proposals and estimates for garden design, enhancements, and seasonal services, especially enhancement for existing maintenance clients.
Project Oversight & Coordination
- Coordinate with our existing field maintenance teams to establish work schedules and project priorities
- Manage the implementation of garden installations and enhancement projects alongside other team members
- Ensure projects are executed to the company’s aesthetic high quality horticulture standards
- Monitor project progress and provide ongoing communication with clients and staff
Garden Maintenance Team Quality Control
- Visit existing garden maintenance accounts to assess plant health, seasonal interest, and long-term garden development
- Recommend enhancements, seasonal improvements, and ecological upgrades for existing clients
- Monitor maintenance quality and ensure all clients receive exceptional horticultural care and customer service
- Support ongoing refinement of ecological garden maintenance practices
Qualifications
- Strong horticultural knowledge, including perennials, shrubs, trees, native plants, and seasonal containers
- Experience with garden design and plant selection, especially high-end containers and seasonal plantings
- Passion for ecological landscaping, pollinator gardens, and sustainable horticultural practices
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Experience supervising or coordinating landscape crews preferred
- Proficiency with landscape design software and proposal writing is a plus
- Valid driver’s license required

Schedule
- Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week
- Seasonal position running from mid-March through mid-December
