MIT Sloan School of Management

Gallery

Offshoots was brought on by MIT faculty to design garden improvements and new planting strategies for 3 Sloan School of Management buildings along Memorial Drive. Throughout the design process, Offshoots collaborated with MIT’s campus maintenance faculty to ensure the new planting strategies were informed by the school’s previous planting and maintenance efforts. The new planting design prioritized creating a showy display for the school’s upcoming commemoration, and includes several late-spring-blooming perennials and bulbs including Allium, Salvia, and ornamental grasses. There was also a strong focus on creating seasonal interest throughout the year. Plantings were selected to ensure continuous blooms from spring through summer, to provide striking fall foliage, and to provide interest in winter.
