Design & Infrastructure Plan

Gallery

The Design and Infrastructure Plan outlines development patterns for Downtown Hyannis to encourage enhancement of the public realm and natural systems. Required low impact development strategies include passive stormwater collection and filtration, and green, high performance building standards.

Kate Kennen was hired by the Town of Barnstable to create the Design and Infrastructure Plan, a regulatory guidebook for developers to clearly understand urban design and green infrastructure elements that the Town and community are looking for in the redevelopment of downtown Hyannis. The document is a series of text descriptions, illustrations and recommendations for site plan layout and landscape techniques.  It creates an alternate form of sustainable dense urbanism that responds to local natural systems.
